This magnificent vintage ring is crafted of sterling silver with an impressive belcher-style setting that sets the stage for this stunning 14mm round lab-created aqua colored UV spinel stone. This particular color of lab-created spinels is called UV spinels because they fluoresce neon green under a blacklight and are prized by lovers of fluorescent gems and uranium glass for their beauty in natural light, their blacklight glow, and because they look just like uranium.

These aqua-colored UV spinels are suitable for daily wear, however, because they do not contain uranium. They glow like uranium, but that's where the similarity ends. These UV lab-created spinels glow due to the use of the mineral manganese in the synthesis process, to achieve a desired color. It is the manganese that makes these lab-created stones fluoresce bright neon green under a blacklight or long-wave UV light.

To preserve the original integrity of vintage items, we do not polish them. We have found that many customers prefer the natural warm patina of a vintage piece. If, however, you prefer a brilliant shine rather than the patina that comes with age, a jeweler can easily polish the ring.
