Vintage Italian 800 Silver Dragonfly Brooch | Coral, Cultured Pearl & Light-Transmitting Plique-à-Jour-Style Enamel
Graceful and beautifully detailed, this vintage Italian dragonfly brooch showcases exceptional craftsmanship with iridescent translucent enamel wings, a luminous cultured pearl body, and natural coral eyes. Crafted in 800 silver, the brooch bears the Italian maker's mark 79 GE 800, identifying it as the work of a silversmith registered in Genoa, Italy.
The dragonfly's wings display brilliant blue and green iridescence and transmit light when viewed against a light source, producing the delicate stained-glass effect associated with plique-à-jour-style enamel. The enamel remains largely intact, with only minor losses consistent with the age and inherently delicate nature of this enamel technique.
The dragonfly's body is formed by a cultured pearl with attractive luster, while tiny coral cabochons provide vivid red eyes. The segmented abdomen and finely detailed wings capture the elegance of a dragonfly in flight, making this a striking piece for collectors of vintage silver jewelry, fine enamels, or nature-inspired designs.
A wonderful example of mid-century Italian craftsmanship that is equally beautiful displayed in a collection or worn as a statement accessory.
