Pair of vintage circa 1940s floating precious white opal drop/dangle earrings measure just over 1.25" in length and are secured with sterling silver screw backs. If desired, these could be fashioned by a bench jeweler into pierced earrings. 

Teardrop glass globe vessels with sterling silver tulip caps contain glycerin rather than water. The denser liquid slows down the motion of the white opals as they float through the liquid, making it easier to see the white, blue, orange, green and red/pink play of color of the opals. The glass globes measure about 10mm in width. 

Because the opals are contained in the glass vessels, we are unable to determine the origin, natural versus opalite material. #90  

As with most vintage sterling silver pieces, these earrings have a natural warm patina that some prefer. However, if you would prefer a bright-white look, it's easy to remove the patina with a silver cleaning cloth. #90
