These are our general guidelines for accepting furniture and decor on consignment. If the items you wish to consign are not covered by these guidelines, please call us to discuss the acceptability of your specific items.

Please understand that we must be very particular concerning the condition of the items we can accept.

Upscale Consignment accepts furnishings that are in "like new" condition and typically less than 10 years of age. The items must be of a good quality construction, have minimal wear and tear, and is of a style that would be of interest to a large number of customers.

We will occasionally make exceptions to the age requirements if the items are in “like new” condition, all the following conditions are met, and if we believe there is a demand for the particular style

Case Goods (Tables, bookcases, bedroom furniture, etc)

• 10 years old or newer (exceptions made on a case-by-case basis)
• Solid wood construction preferred, although veneered plywood or engineered wood items will be accepted on a case-by-case basis. No "knock-down" (self-assembled) items accepted
• Must be from a smoke-free home
• The finish and paint on solid surfaces must be consistent over all the surfaces (especially the primary surfaces such as top and front), and well maintained with no watermarks, no discoloration or fading, no (or very minor) scratches, or other noticeable flaws (a "noticeable flaw" is one which can be seen at a distance of 2 feet or more under bright lighting).
• Legs and frame must be sturdy with no wobble.
• Glass & mirrors must be free of scratches and chips
• No broken or missing hardware/pieces. Doors and drawers must operate smoothly and close correctly.
• Entertainment Centers must have a TV area which is at least 48" in width.
• Antique furniture which has been meticulously maintained or recently restored, and are in like-new will be considered. We also accept antique reproductions if they are 10 years old or less and are in excellent condition

Upholstered Furniture (Sofas, Chairs, Recliners, etc.)

• Typically 7 years old or newer
• Must be an identifiable brand name or custom upholstered
• Must be from non-smoking home
• Cushions and pillows must show no sagging or be out of shape. When sitting down, the cushion and springs must be firm and supportive
• Upholstery must be absolutely clean, no apparent wear, and odor free. No stains. No faded or sun-bleached areas. No pet hair. No tears.
• Finish of wood or metal trim should be smooth and consistent in color.
• For upholstered items older than about 5 years, pay particular attention to the condition of the cushions and springs. Cushions and pillows must show no sagging or be out of shape. When sitting down, the cushion and springs must be firm and supportive ("sinkers" will not be accepted).
• Legs and frame must be sturdy with no wobble.
• Mechanical movements must operate smoothly (i.e. recliners, hide-a-beds, massage chairs)
• No vintage or antique upholstered goods

Artwork (must be in perfect condition, and be able to price at $50 or more)

• Less than 10 years old
• No fading or degradation of coloring
• 36" Maximum dimension (either height or width)
• No "amateur artist" paintings
• Artwork and matting must be free of any moisture damage (waviness or warping)
• Frames must be constructed of wood (no metal framed art), and free of any damage
• No poster art or photographic accepted
• The hanging apparatus must be sturdy (not loose, and no string)
• Glass must be free of scratches
• Maximum 2 pcs. consigned at one time

Other Décor (must be in flawless condition, current styles, and be able to price at $50 or more)

• Art and sculptures
• Lamps
• Mirrors
• Rugs (maximum 12 ft. in either direction)
• Crystal Chandeliers (minimum selling price $200)
• Other Quality Items for the Home

Jewelry

We accept fine jewelry of the type that would be purchased in a jewelry store. Diamonds, gemstones, gold, platinum, pearls, jade, high-end watches, and high-end designer jewelry.

All items that will be priced at about $500 or more should be accompanied by a recent 3rd-party independent appraisal.

If you don't have a current appraisal, we recommend that you have your item appraised at Pacific Gem Labs of Portland. P.G.L. is one of the Pacific Northwest's oldest and most trusted jewelry appraisal services. Note: We are not affiliated with P.G.L., nor do we receive any royalties or commissions for referrals.

Exercise Equipment

• Treadmills
• Ellipticals
• Bowflex
• High-end recumbent and stationary bicycles
• Stair steppers
• Rowing machines
• No weight machines or free weights

Must to be in top-notch condition, quiet motor operation with all features functioning correctly and all parts and accessories and manuals included.

What we cannot accept

• Glass top dining tables (dinette and patio tables OK)
• Lamps without shades (or shades which have yellowed)
• Mediterranean furniture
• Black Lacquer Furniture
• Cribs or toddler beds
• Lamps/Chandeliers without working bulbs
• Waterbeds
• Carriage Lights or other general light fixtures
• Anything in need of repair or refinishing
