This circa 1890s Victorian 14K rose and yellow gold mourning ring is set with one 14mm x 6mm rectangular shape black onyx chalcedony stone, atop which is handpainted a gold rose. The mounting is engraved and etched then set with the rectangular black onyx tablet.

There was a very small diamond set in the gold rose at one time, but even without the stone the ring is still beautiful. If desired, another small stone could be set. 

Mourning jewelry dates back to the 1600s but gained huge popularity in the 1860s when Queen Victoria mourned the death of her beloved Albert.#90
