The National Historical Society Civil War chess and checkers set by Franklin Mint includes a National Historical Society box that holds a certificate of authenticity and pamphlets describing the historical significance of each piece/person. The board, which measures approximately 2-1/4" tall and 12-3/4" square, has a dark hardwood and lined encasement that serves to store the chess pieces, and also functions as the lid to the box. The set includes thirty-two pewter chess pieces on brass pedestals with grey or blue enameled bases. The tallest piece measures approximately 2" tall. This set has been handled with care, and the overall condition is excellent.    

Also included is an original set of Civil War Checkers by The Franklin Mint. The set contains 24 silvered brass coins on finely enameled red and blue embellishments. The medals measure 1-1/4″ in diameter and 1/4″ thick and are stamped with busts of the commanders. The fitted wooden and lined storage box lid lifts to reveal separate storage compartments for each of the 24 checkers. Pamphlets describing the historical significance of each piece/person are also included. The set is complete and the condition is like-new.
