This lovely antique sterling silver and natural amethyst gemstone lavalier necklace dates from the Edwardian Era, between 1900 and 1910. The metalwork features accents common in Edwardian jewelry, such as milgraining, a tiny bead-like border along the bezel's edge, which adds a delicate and luxurious touch to the design. Another design element found in Edwardian jewelry is articulated assemblies or elements, which allow for a more flexible attachment to the chain. Openwork designs and delicate dangles are designed to swing and move with the wearer's movements, adding visual interest and enhancing the overall design. This lavalier pendant features both decorative beading details, and an articulated design just above each gemstone, allowing for movement and the dynamic display of reflected light.

The chain measures 16" in length, and the lavalier component of the necklace measures 2.5" in length. The oval-shaped amethyst cabochon is bezel-set and measures 11 x 14 x 7mm(d), and the teardrop-shaped amethyst gemstone has a diameter of 5mm that increases to 11mm, and measures 24mm in length.

The necklace is in excellent antique condition and displays the typical warm, earthy patina of aged sterling silver. It has not been polished in case this is the preferred finish. Otherwise, it can be  easily polished by a jeweler if a brightly polished finish is desired.

One of the photos shows a pair of earrings that came in with this necklace that are of a similar design. The earrings are being sold separately.#90
