Antique 1882 ELGIN Pocket Watch Double Hunter Case - Working!

DESCRIPTION..
This circa 1882 ELGIN mechanical pocket watch features a double hunter case by Crescent Watch Case Company with a bright polish finish. The case tests as 14 karat gold, but due to the lack of a gold purity stamp, I assume that the case is 14 karat yellow gold-filled.

The case measures 35mm in width and 10mm in depth. The overall length of the watch is 2". The case is in very good to excellent condition.

The mechanism has been tested and this watch is in working order.#A

Interestingly, a note of provenance was passed down through the generations, attached to the watch. The watch originally belonged to a grandfather in the family. It had been gifted as a highschool graduation present  after the 1918 influenza pandemic which spread worldwide during the years 1918-1919.
