Q: What type of jewelry do you accept?

A: We accept fine jewelry of the type that would be purchased in a jewelry store. Diamonds, gemstones, gold, platinum, pearls, jade, high-end watches, and high-end designer jewelry.

All items must be accompanied by a recent 3rd-party independent appraisal with "appraised replacement value" of at least $750.

If you don't have a current appraisal, we can have your item appraised with our associate Pacific Gem Labs of Portland. P.G.L. is one of the Pacific Northwest's oldest and most trusted jewelry appraisal services.

We also have a consignment program for those who make handmade jewelry, or have a lot of costume jewelry. Click here for info.

A: Yes. Our intake process requires that we sit down with you and thoroughly document each item received, plus discuss the process with you and answer any questions you may have.

Q: How is the sales price established?

A: Pricing is determined by several factors. First and most important is the 3rd party independent "replacement value" appraisal. Generally, the starting price is about 50% to 70% of the appraised replacement value, but that can vary significantly depending on condition, age, and demand for the particular style.

Q: Can I price my own merchandise?

A: You may recommend an amount for our pricing specialist to consider, however we cannot accept consignments if we feel the item won't sell because the price is too high.  Most consignors are very pleased with our pricing recommendations as they provide a fair return and a quick sale.

Q: Can I put a minimum sales price on my items?

A: We give you options regarding the selling price. You can specify that the price is to remain firm, or that you will accept an offer of a pre-determined amount lower than the ticket price, or you may even specify that we contact you with offers.

Q: Do you charge extra to post my items onto your Online Showroom?

A: This fantastic benefit is included at no charge! We are the only consignment store in the northwest that maintains on a daily basis an online database of items offered for sale in our store. Although this is a significant added expense for us, we feel that the benefits to the consignor and to the customer far outweigh the expense.

Q: Why is getting an independent 3rd-party appraisal so important?

A: A potential buyer would be very reluctant to purchase an expensive piece of jewelry without a written, unbiased appraisal of value from a certified gemologist. An Independent 3rd-party appraiser has no reason to inflate, devalue, or conveniently apply a specific value to any of the items they appraise. In addition, independent appraisers are incredibly thorough and competent and typically provide the customer with a great deal of specificity and details on the jewelry they appraise.  We have chosen to use Pacific Gem Labs as our preferred appraiser, as they are one of the Northwest's oldest and most respected independent appraisers.

On the other hand, jewelry retailers who provide a free "in-house" appraisal may indeed have a conflict of interest.
